My Journey Through Social Media

Just what is “Social Media” and what’s the big deal?  I heard someone say that it is “digital word-of-mouth communication” that allows us to have meaningful conversations with multiple people at the same time. For those in business, it is the new wave of marketing. For personal use, it is the new way of keeping up with family and friends, making it easier than ever to share pictures and events with one another. One quick Facebook or Blog post, or a Tweet, can reach everyone I have on my lists in a matter of seconds.

Facebook, Blog, Twitter. I feel like I’ve been left behind in the dust. I have a decent Facebook page, with a small number of “friends” who I share occasional comments and photos with.  But how fun it would be to build an entire “family tree” in one group, and put my high-school friends in another, and my Austin friends in yet another. Then I could post comments specific to each group, and I could even “Tweet” to those groups with updates.

How on earth do I do that? Where do I begin? Here goes………..

  1. Sorry, I forgot you are in Austin. Is this a picture of San Fransisco? I must have read that you visited there or something. I have it in my head that you live there. Must be your twin! I loved Austin. That is a part of TX I could live in. Sheri

  2. Sherri,
That picture is one of the villages in Cinque Terre, along the coast of Italy. It is one of my favorite places, and in fact, we should have visited there last week. My husband and I had planned a 2-week trip to Italy that had to be postponed until May. I put that picture there to be a reminder of a place of beauty, inspiration and relaxation. I’m searching for a different name for my new venture, and will change the picture and format when I find something that perfectly states what I vision–inspiring women over 50 to achieve their fullest potential.
